Our Staff

Dr Rob Zammit

Known for his media work in such programs as A Country Practice, Burkes Backyard and 2GB, Dr Zammit’s first love is veterinary science with a special interest in reproduction work.

He lives on the premises with his family, 12 dogs, 5 cats, 2 horses and various other animals. The close proximity to work means Dr Zammit can never use traffic as an excuse for being late, but it makes it easy to check all the hospital animals.

Dr Kelly Gilbert

Dr Gilbert graduated with honours in marine biology, then returned to study veterinary science. Graduating with honours, Kelly brings with her the latest in technological advances in the field of veterinary science.

Her genuine care and love for animals ensures that she gives herself to every case. We just have to stop her from wanting to take every stray home with her.

Our Nurses:

Brooke Reed – Head Nurse

Brooke’s love of animals is not confined to things domestic, though she owns her own dogs, horse and very much pampered cats (“No, they [the cats] own me,” Brooke freely admits).

Brooke worked in veterinary practice while still in high school so we were lucky to employ her after completing school, though this as most definitely not the end of her studying. Brooke devoured the knowledge provided by the veterinary nurses courses, successfully graduating from all stages, but more that that Brooke’s on site accomplishments are outstanding. Brooke is highly accomplished in everything from anaesthesia to zoo medicine, assisting all veterinarians in whatever endeavour they are fulfilling. Brooke has even assisted in a shark microchip identification program but probably her most notable achievement is her ability to impart knowledge and assist in training of the junior nurses.

Brooke has saved literally hundreds of orphaned animals, which eventually find good homes through the hospital contacts; so if ever you’re in need of a pup or a kitten, ring and ask for Brooke. If we don’t have one immediately, the next orphaned critter to find refuge in her arms will only just be around the corner.
